Another year has dawned on us. Many of us look back over the previous year and reflect on what we have achieved and on where we could have done better. Did we stick to our New Year’s resolutions? Did we accomplish all of our goals?
Throughout the year I tell my students that if you are going to make a change, make it immediately – no matter what the date. We need to remember that there is no magic spell that happens on 1 January that will make our goals and changes any easier to accomplish. It does, however, give us a clear date stamp for us to gauge improvement within a time frame.
Throughout the year we should strive to be the best version of ourselves that we can possibly be. We need to reach our full and true potential in anything we decide to set our minds to. Each day within the year we should try to accomplish something, be it big or small. It is through these constant accomplishments and improvements that we achieve growth as human beings. When we look back on the year we can say “I am better than I was!” No matter what trials and tribulation we may have had to face and no matter what position we find ourselves in, we will still be able to say that it was a successful year. There is room for positive growth in good times and in bad times – it all depends on our reaction to the given situation.
The New Year is a great place for us a place to start – people are more likely to “give it a bash” at this time of year. I wish you all success in achieving your goals and reaching your dreams. Have a great and memorable 2013!
